The Cognıtıve Theory of Multımedıa Learnıng
Hi! I have tried to summerize The Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning in only one paragraph.
You can find it below :) 👇
Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning developed by Richard Mayer is a theory of how teachers can create technological materials in order to enhance the learning quality and make learning process more effective. This theory is based on three main assumptions: dual channel assumption refers to visual and audial inputs, limited capacity assumption that is cognitively overloading learners may block learning because memory has a limited capacity, active processing assumption which refers to moderate amount of information can be more actively processed while learning. Meaningful learning can be experienced by learners when they employ five cognitive processes: selecting relevant words/images, organizing selected items into a verbal/pictorial representation, and integrating verbal/pictrorial representations with one another and prior knowledge. Technological instructional materials designed in the light of The Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning should consist twelve practical principles which include signaling, segmenting, personalizing principles. Multimedia learning is accomplished when words and pictures are integrated through the mental representations.
